Scratch Shield-un lac transparent mai rezistent la zgârieturi

Scratch Shield is a clearcoat that is more scratch resistant compared with conventional clearcoats, helping a vehicle maintain its new look for a longer period of time. The paint also repairs fine scratches, restoring a vehicle's surface close to its original state. Nissan will continue to expand the adoption of Scratch Shield globally.

Main characteristics

After being scratched, a car surface painted with Scratch Shield will have five times less the number of scratches compared with a vehicle painted with a conventional clearcoat.

Scratch Shield repaires fine scratches, restoring painted surfaces close to their original state anywhere from one day to one week.

Basic structure

  • The paint does not self-repair if scratches are deep enough to sever the bonds within the clearcoat or if the clearcoat has been peeled off.
  • The amount of time required for self-repair depends on the surrounding temperature and the depth of the scratch. In some cases, restoration may take up to one week.
  • SERVICE INFORMATION Scratch Shield is a newly developed scratch-resistant clear coat which "heals" by itself when the vehicle gets a small scratch in the clear coat. If the scratch reaches the color base coat, however, it will not "heal". Scratch Shield was implemented for the first time in the U.S. with the 2008 EX35, 2009 FX35/50, 2009 G37 Sedan and Coupe. All vehicles that have scratch shield clear coat carry a label which is located underneath the hood. See this bulletin for further detail.

This bulletin does not apply to 2010 models. Only 2009 and 2011 models. 2010 models are not equipped with Scratch Shield Paint.

Authorized paint suppliers

Nissan is working with refinish paint vendors to develop approved materials and procedures for proper refinishing of vehicles with Scratch Shield. To ensure proper color matching, adhesion, and long term wear characteristics, vehicles needing paint refinish work must be refinished with products that have been tested and approved by Nissan.
At the time of this publication, the following refinish paint manufacturers have provided materials and procedures, which meet Nissan requirements:

If your paint system supplier does not have Infiniti approved Scratch Shield refinish
products, specific technical advice can be acquired from the local distributor
of the paint suppliers listed on the previous page. If your paint supplier is not approved and you need to obtain refinish materials from one of the approved vendors, you will also need to purchase the necessary primers, reducers, hardeners and base coat from that distributor.

Current refinish materials are designed to work as a system and products from different vendors should not be intermixed.
