These charts are for reference only. The process of machine polishing removes trace amounts of paint and leaves behind very fine scratching on the paint`s surface.

The total amount of paint removed would be referred to as the cut. This is as also known as the Polish Aggressiveness. The higher the number at the top of the pad, the more aggressive the pad and polish combination.

The paint condition key works the same way. The higher the number, the more damaged the paint, in terms of the depth of the defects. This is allows theses charts to show which polish and pad should be capable of removing the defects (top of the bar) but also the resulting finish of using that combination.

EXAMPLE: The paint is in condition 10. This would be heavily scratched, with deep penetrating defects or even sanded with 2500 grit. These defects have serious depth. If we are working on medium paint we could use a Lake Country Purple Foamed wool pad in combination with Menzerna POS34a Power Gloss.

This would leave the paint in a condition of roughly 6. Menzerna PO203 Power Finish and a Tangerine H20 Pad should clean up the residual marks left behind from the first step while leaving the finish at roughly a 3. 3 would represent very very fine (sometimes invisible) marks that could benefit from a final polish.

From here we could choose Menzerna PO106fa and a Lake Country Black Finishing pad to bring the car to a perfect luster.

Power Gloss Compound

Power Gloss is a nice cutting compound that is recommended for use with a rotary polisher. Power Gloss is very effective at removing sanding scratches, deep swirl marks, and other extensive damage.

Menzerna Power Gloss 1000 Compound, 1L, PG1000Q/POS34A

Powerful polishing compound approved for scratch removal on newly cured paint and older paints.

Menzerna Power Gloss Compound uses aggressive clustered aluminum oxide abrasives to terminate 1200 - 1500 grit sanding scratches, acid rain damage, water spots, overspray, and swirls with ease. As the clustered oxide abrasive break down they act to polish the paint to a higher gloss then typically achieved with other compounds. It is the most aggressive of Menzerna’s polishes, finishes with the gloss and smoothness of a polish.

Silicone-free.

Menzerna POS34a Power Gloss Compound uses aggressive clustered aluminum oxide abrasives to terminate 1200-1500 grit sanding scratches, acid rain damage, water spots, and isolated scratches with ease. As the clustered oxide abrasive break down they act to polish the paint to a higher gloss then typically achieved with other compounds.

Use Power Gloss with a heavy cutting foam or wool pad on a rotary or dual action polisher to remove deeper scratches and other paint defects.

Body shops have come to rely on Menzerna POS34a Power Gloss to speed up the buffing process while improving the paint quality of the finished vehicle. Efficiency is further enhanced due to reduced dusting (for a compound) and minimal slinging reducing clean up time considerably. Power Gloss will safely restore the luster on aged; weather worn and oxidized paint and clear coat. Scratches and heavy swirl marks are eliminated and not hidden since there are no fillers in the formulation. The high concentration of finely milled diminishing size aluminum oxide powder work perfectly with either a wool or foam compounding pad.

Use Menzerna POS34a Power Gloss Compound to remove heavy scratches, wet sanding marks, and acid rain blemishes quickly. While this compound produces a nice finish for a compound, resulting swirl marks will require 1-2 additional polishing steps for a flawless finish. Recommended for use with a rotary polisher and your choice of wool or cutting foam pads. Note: Can be used with a random orbital polisher although some visible hazing of the paint will occur.

Super` Intensive Polish is an amazing polish which can remove moderate to severe defects and finish out to super high gloss with very little swirl. `Super` Intensive Polish features a super thick lubricant which can cause problems on certain paints or in certain climates. The lubricant can be difficult to remove fully as well, leading to unintentional filling.

Menzerna Medium Cut Polish 2400 32 oz.

Note: Menzerna Medium Cut Polish 2400 is the new version of Menzerna Super Intensive SI-1500. Menzerna has changed the name and label, but it is the same product you know and love. It is currently only available to select U.S. retailers.

Concentrated abrasive action for today’s scratch-resistant, ceramic clear coats.

Menzerna Medium Cut Polish 2400 is designed for the removal of scratches, swirls, and oxidation on the scratch-resistant clear coats used by Mercedes Benz. Concentrated, specially milled abrasives remove 2000 grit sanding scratches to leave a brilliant shine with little or no hazing.

Note: Menzena Medium Cut Polish 2400 also goes by the part number Menzerna PO85RD 3.02 but it has been shortened to PO83 for simplicity by Menzerna USA, the US distribution office for Menzerna Polishes.

At the end of 2003, Mercedes Benz put into production a new scratch-resistant clear coat lacquer made up of nano-sized ceramic particles, which are baked and hardened in the paintshop oven, just like you’d bake pottery in a kiln. This process results in an extensively cross-linked, very hard paint finish that stands up better to mechanical car washes and day to day abuse. This clear coat, called CeramiClear from PPG, is the only nanotechnology clear coat used on Mercedes production lines and is approved for the repair of Mercedes and Nissans.

The problem with the ceramic clear coat is that it is harder to correct than the comparatively soft clear coats used by most other car manufacturers. Ceramic paint can still scratch; just not as easily. When a scratch does occur, not all the polishes on the market are capable of removing it from the new, hard-as-a-rock clear coats.

Menzerna Medium Cut Polish 2400 is formulated specifically for the new ceramic, scratch-resistant clear coats. Menzerna developed a new family of abrasives that are better able to penetrate the hard paint and level imperfections. Medium Cut Polish 2400 is the most aggressive of this new breed of polishes, capable of removing 2000 grit sanding scratches.

Though this is a powerful polish, Menzerna Medium Cut Polish 2400 produces virtually no dust or haze. The polish contains a high concentration of small abrasives, which allows the polish to work cleaner. The tiny abrasives blend away imperfections using consistent abrasive action, meaning the hundreds of abrasives are repeatedly passing over the blemish to gradually eliminate it. The results are smooth, glossy, haze-free paint.

On most paints, you can go straight from Menzerna Medium Cut Polish 2400 to finishing with a wax or sealant without any steps in between. It leaves such a deep gloss, there’s no need for a finishing polish in many cases.

Menzerna Medium Cut Polish 2400 can be used with a dual action or rotary polisher to remove defects quickly.

Note: Dark paints may require follow up with a finer polish. Use Menzerna Nano Polish, which is also formulated for scratch-resistant clear coats.

Menzerna Medium Cut Polish 2400 can be used on all types of paint, including conventional clear coats. Use it on fresh paint finishes (once fully cured) to eliminate any swirls or overspray. On older paint finishes, Menzerna Medium Cut Polish 2400 will remove moderate imperfections and refresh the color.

Menzerna Medium Cut Polish 2400 contains no silicone, waxes, fillers, or glaze. It’s a water-based pure polish, which makes it ideal for a body shop or paint shop environment.

In the final analysis, Menzerna Medium Cut Polish 2400 is a step beyond the average polish in terms of cutting ability but its clean, haze-free finish is definitely representative of a polish. Regardless of its classification, it’s the best choice for polishing and paint correction on today’s hard, ceramic clear coats.

Application by Machine:

1. Make sure the surface to be compounded is clean and dry. Fresh paint should be fully cured. Apply Medium Cut Polish 2400 out of direct sunlight.
2. Use a wool or foam polishing pad, such as Lake Country’s CCS White Polishing Pad or Orange Light Cutting Pad. The Orange or Green Edge 2000 Pads will also work well with Medium Cut Polish 2400. Apply a 6 inch line of compound to the vehicle. With the polisher turned off, spread the polish over about a 2 x 2 sq. ft. area.
3. Polish at 1200-1800 RPM (5000-6000 OPM on a dual action polisher) working slowly across and then up and down the area. Check your work after several passes to see if the defect has been removed. If so, reduce the pressure and continue buffing until a high gloss is achieved. If the pad becomes dry, mist it with water and continue buffing.
4. Wipe the area with a damp microfiber cloth.
5. If necessary, follow with Menzerna Nano Polish to restore optimum gloss.
6. Always apply a wax or sealant after compounding or polishing. We recommend Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0 to seal in the shine with its long-lasting polymer formula.

Machine Application:

1. Clean and dry the vehicle. Apply Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover 3.0 out of direct sunlight.
2. Depending on the condition of the paint, choose a polishing or light cutting pad. (Only step up to the cutting foam if the light cutting foam does not work.) Apply a bead of Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover 3.0 to the vehicle or to the pad. With the polisher turned off, spread the polish over about a 2 x 2 sq. ft. area.
3. Polish at 1200-1800 RPM (5 or 6 on a dual action polisher) working slowly across and then up and down the area. Check your work after several passes to see if the defect has been removed. If so, reduce the pressure and continue buffing until a high gloss is achieved. If the pad becomes dry, mist it with water and continue buffing.
4. Wipe the polished area with a damp microfiber cloth.

PO91e Intensive Polish

Intensive Polish is one of the original polishes introduced by Proper Auto Care in 2002. While no longer the class leader in cutting or finishing ability, Intensive Polish still has many desirable features. It will work well on all paint types, delivering consistent results with out any unwanted reactions. The dusting of the polish acts to keep spent paint from contaminating the pad, making Intensive Polish ideal for oxidized or heavily weathered paint, as well as single stage enamels and lacquers.

Menzerna PO91E Intensive Polish was the first heavy polish introduced to the aftermarket. At the time, Menzerna PO91E Intensive Polish set the detailing world on fire and garnered recognition for its ability to remove paint defects while leaving the finish near-flawless. Today Menzerna PO91E is particularly suited to refinishing weathered or worn paint.

Intensive Polish is designed to be used on fresh paint to remove 2000 grit and finer sanding marks.

Menzerna PO91E Intenstive Polish, afficantely referred to as "IP" by its long time users will remove up to 2000 grit sanding marks on fresh paint. It dusts a little more then most modern Menzerna polishes, but this acts to keep the polishing pad clean and free of contamiation when polishing extremely faded or weathered paints.

Use Menzerna PO91E Intensive Polish with a wool or foam polishing pad to remove moderate-to-heavy defects from all paint systems. Use a moderate amount of product and longer work times to achieve best results.

Menzerna PO 91E Intensive Polish defies convention! Intensive Polish is capable of removing 2000 grit sanding scratches, oxidation, compounding swirls and other defects without hazing. Based on its abilities you’d think it’s a compound but, in fact, Menzerna PO 91E Intensive Polish is just what the name says – a polish on steroids!

Menzerna PO 91E Intensive Polish may eliminate the need for a compound on oxidized, swirled vehicles. This polish is so safe and effective, you can remove paint flaws with little or no loss of surface gloss. Normally, you would have to compound, follow up with a swirl remover, and then a finishing polish to remove 2000 grit sanding scratches. It would take at least three steps. But with Menzerna PO 91E Intensive Polish, you can often go straight to wax application after polishing.

Menzerna PO 91E Intensive Polish leaves very little – if any – haze. The highly concentrated, small abrasives remove the paint flaw through consistent abrasive action. Compounds with large abrasives are practically scoring the paint surrounding the flaw, which causes dullness. The dullness then has to be polished out with smaller abrasives. Menzerna PO 91E Intensive Polish combines these two steps by gradually leveling the flaw with small, numerous abrasives that break down into a self-refining polish. The surface is left smooth, vibrant, and glossy.

This is one of the most versatile and user-friendly polishes I have ever used. To call it a polish is somewhat misleading because it really falls somewhere between a strong swirl remover and a compound. Yet, it barely dusts and leaves no surface haze on most paints. You can apply it by hand to create a jaw-dropping gloss. Apply Menzerna PO 91E Intensive Polish with a Porter Cable 7424XP or a rotary buffer to remove swirls, oxidation, water spots, and most scratches. Your application method dictates how this polish performs!

Use Menzerna PO 91E Intensive Polish on oxidized, dull paint, heavy water spots, swirls, and scratches. Even though the name says polish, by most standards, this is a compound.

Menzerna PO 91E Intensive Polish can also be used on freshly repainted finishes (once cured) to remove overspray and imperfections. The formula is extremely low-dusting and contains no silicone, waxes, or fillers. It’s perfect for use in a body shop or paint shop. Clean up is quick and easy.

Menzerna PO 91E Intensive Polish will remove most paint flaws and, in most cases, you will not need to step up to Menzerna PowerGloss Compound.

Create a high gloss, swirl-free finish with the polish acts like a compound. Menzerna PO 91E Intensive Polish removes moderate to severe paint imperfections with minimal or no loss of gloss and almost no dusting.

Application by Hand:

1. Mist the Wolfgang German Polish N Wax Applicator with McKee's 37 Pad Conditioner to moisten the foam. Apply a nickel size amount of Menzerna PO 91E Intensive Polish to the applicator.
2. Work in a back and forth, overlapping motion until the area starts to dry. Wipe off the polish with a damp Cobra Microfiber Towel. Work in 2 x 2 sq. ft. sections until the entire vehicle is done.
Note: Applying Menzerna PO 91E Intensive Polish by hand will enhance gloss but it will not remove swirls or scratches. For paint correction, you must apply this product with a polisher.

Application by Machine:

1. Make sure the surface to be compounded is clean and dry. Fresh paint should be fully cured. Apply Intensive Polish out of direct sunlight.
2. Use a wool or foam polishing pad, like Lake Country’s CCS White Polishing Pad or The Edge’s Blue Pad. Apply a 6 inch line of compound to the vehicle. With the polisher turned off, spread the polish over about a 2 x 2 sq. ft. area.
3. Polish at 1200-1800 RPM (5000-6000 OPM on a dual action polisher) working slowly across and then up and down the area. Check your work after several passes to see if the defect has been removed. If so, reduce the pressure and continue buffing until a high gloss is achieved. If the pad becomes dry, mist it with water and continue buffing.
4. Wipe the area with a damp microfiber cloth.
5. If necessary, follow with Menzerna Final Polish to restore optimum gloss.
6. Always apply a wax or sealant after compounding or polishing. We recommend Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0 to seal in the shine with its long-lasting polymer formula.

PO106ff/PO106fa

106ff was Menzerna`s finishing polish answer to modern ceramic clear coats. This polish has enough cut to tackle light swirl marks and finish most paints to the highest level. The thicker lubricant system in 106ff can cause light filling and cause some issues on particularly soft paint systems. Menzerna tweaked the lubricant formula slightly to better hold the abrasives in the pad, reducing dusting, in 106fa. It should be noted that these polishes use the finest abrasive of any Menzerna polish.

Menzerna Super Finish cuts like a medium grade polish but finishes like an ultra fine polish.

Though Super Finish PO 106 FA is designed for ceramic paint, the small abrasives work well on conventional clear coats without introducing holograms.

Menzerna Super Finish PO 106 FA removes 2500 grit sanding scratches, holograms, compounding haze, light swirls, and mild oxidation. It can be used on brand new finishes or on older, reconditioned paint.

Menzerna Super Finish PO 106 FA contains no silicone, waxes, glazes, or fillers. This is a water-based product. One upgrade of this product is that PO 106 FA produces very little dust, even less than the original Super Finish PO 106 FF.

Menzerna Micro Polish PO 87MC (3800)

PO85rd Final Polish

Even though PO85rd was replaced by 106ff/fa in European automobile factories, detailers and enthusiast found this polish to be one of the best final step polishes in existence. It is commonly used as a `jeweling` polish to enhance the gloss of already great looking paint and create ultra sharp reflections and incredible gloss on all paint systems.
